The summer of 2007 saw 1345 trophy fish caught and released in our dedicated conservation area. Anglers sure had their share of challenges to overcome during the fishing season. May and June saw more than their fair share of rain with water levels being the highest the area has seen in the last 50 years. Every good fisherman knows that changes in water levels can affect the location and behavior of the fish and fishing effort increases. I’m sure a lot of anglers explored new country while chasing down the big ones. We have noticed that the size of the breeding stock is increasing and we expect to show an increase in age classes in the near future. We’re looking forward to the fishing reports next year to see whether or not the fish move back to their traditional hot spots or if they will find some new locations. As camp owners we are noticing that more people are taking into consideration the quality of the surrounding area and its seclusion, beauty and tranquility in addition to fishing quality when booking their vacation. We are proud to be able to provide them with memories that will last a lifetime. On behalf of all the Trophy Waters members, I would like to extend a huge thank you to all the anglers who participate in catch and release fishing. Each and every one of you has helped to raise awareness of our relationship to the environment. Please know that as a group the camp owners, outfitters and fishermen that are involved in this exemplary conservation venture continue to be vigilant about environmental practices and policies that affect all involved in the management of our natural resources. All of the Trophy Waters members are already making plans for next season. We encourage anyone interested in a fishing adventure of a lifetime to contact any one of the lodges and outfitters listed at the end of this booklet. I’m sure you’ll be glad you did. We encourage all anglers visiting our area to register all trophy fish caught and released. Remember, above all else, that cap you receive and your name in our book gives you bragging rights!! We invite all of our Trophy Waters conservationists and friends to visit our website at www.trophywaters.com for the latest on the Woodland Caribou herds that also call the TWCA their home.
